Day 1: Arrive Adelaide

On arrival in Auckland, transfer to your connecting flight to Adelaide. After clearing Customs & Immigration in Adelaide, make your way to the Avis counter to collect your rental vehicle. Make your way to your Adelaide accommodation where you will spend two nights.

Day 2: Adelaide Today is free to explore Adelaide at your leisure. Perhaps visit the iconic Adelaide Central Market - one of Australia's largest fresh produce markets providing a wide range of fresh and multi-cultural products. Head to the beach at Glenelg, visit the South Australian Museum or the Art Gallery of South Australia.

Day 3: Adelaide - McLaren Vale

McLaren Vale is only 45 minutes from Adelaide and has brilliant established wineries as well as exciting newcomers. A must-see is d’Arenberg. Run by four generations of Osborn’s it is one of the region’s highlights. Their Blending Bench lets you play winemaker for a day. Not far from here is the McMurtrie Mile experience which leads you to six winery highlights all on the one road.

On Saturday mornings (8am to 12:30pm) stop by the Willunga Farmers Market, this was the first farmers market in South Australia and it’s still one of the best. Two top options for dining are Elbow Room and Fino restaurants.

Day 4: McLaren Vale - Adelaide Hills

Just 30 minutes inland from Adelaide, 45 minutes north east of McLaren Vale, the Adelaide Hills is a great escape from the city, and the perfect spot for a long lunch. Hahndorf Hill Winery’s ChocoVino experience combines everyone’s two favourite things – wine and chocolate.

Pick your own strawberries (late October to April) at Beerenberg Farm. Taste and purchase their delicious products year-round at their onsite farm shop. Udder Delights in Hahndorf and Woodside Cheese Wrights in Woodside are a must for cheese tastings and purchases. The Lane Vineyard restaurant and cellar door has stunning views, matched by their wines and menu. Or visit the Lobethal Bierhaus, which brews award-winning handcrafted beers and serves meals utilizing local produce.

Day 5: Adelaide Hills - Barossa Valley

Australia’s most famous wine region, the Barossa, is also one of the world’s best. Visit historic Seppeltsfield Winery and take a tour to taste the vintage Tawny from your birth year directly from the barrel. The collection includes every vintage back to 1878. Swap tasting for making at a Casa Carboni Italian cooking class in Angaston. Whilst at Penfolds winery in Nuriootpa, become the winemaker on the Make Your Own Blend tour.

The Hentley Farm restaurant is an experience not to be missed and don’t forget to visit their intimate cellar door, in the property’s original 1840’s homestead. Enjoy a wine master class at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre in Rowland Flat, followed by a two course lunch and a glass of wine. A must stop is at Aussie food legend Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop near Nuriootpa.

Day 6: Barossa Valley - Clare Valley

A short drive north of the Barossa and you’re in the boutique Clare Valley, famous for its award-winning Rieslings, but offers much more. Jesuits started Sevenhill Cellars in 1851 to produce sacramental wine, which they still do, but now they also make premium table wines – hallelujah!

Knappstein produces both wine and beer. Their hand-picked Riesling is consistently one of Australia’s best and the cellar door houses their own micro-brewery. Skillogalee is renowned for their restaurant with a national reputation. It’s a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon. Hire a bike and ride the Riesling Trail, stopping off at wineries along the way.

Day 7: Clare Valley - Adelaide

After a leisurely day exploring the Clare Valley, return to Adelaide for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Departure

Morning free before returning the rental vehicle to Adelaide Airport prior to boarding your return flight back home.

4. Services of a professional English speaking driver guide.
