DURATION:07 Nights / 08 Days

This 7-night coastal expedition cruise from Hobart is an active adventure showcasing the wild beauty and remarkable heritage of Australia’s island state, Tasmania, all in style and comfort aboard the Coral Discoverer. Take advantage of the long summer daylight hours in Tasmania and join bushwalks in national parks and World Heritage Areas, led by a renowned Expedition Team and a special guest Parks and Wildlife Ranger.

Join an optional hike of the start of the famed South Coast Track at Cockle Bay, the rugged Fluted Cape of Bruny Island or the early morning scenic Wineglass Bay lookout in Freycinet National Park. Spend two days exploring the untouched Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area at Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour. Normally only accessible by seven-day hike or light aircraft, this region is undoubtedly one of the most pristine and beautiful landscapes on earth.

Over the coming days we've outlined some of the excursions that you may undertake.

Day 3: Port Arthur

Port Arthur Historic Site: Explore Australia’s most evocative convict site housing Britain and Australia’s ‘worst’ criminals. Tasmania World Heritage Area: On Tasmania's West Coast explore UNESCO-listed wilderness. Visit Port Davey before cruising the ‘Narrows’ to Bathurst Harbour. Take a guided hike of Balmoral Hill Track and on to Melaleuca village for possible sightings of the endangered Orange-bellied Parrot. There's also ample time to kayak in these tranquil waters.

Day 5: Freycinet National Park

Freycinet National Park: Choose from optional early morning guided hikes to Freycinet National Park's Wineglass Bay Lookout. There are three different walks to choose from, depending on your level of fitness and early-morning energy levels! Then enjoy time to explore Wineglass Bay's beautiful beach. If the weather is nice you might even venture in for a dip.

Day 6: Maria Island

Maria Island: The historic ruins, bays and rugged cliffs of Maria Island National Park are sure to be a highlight. Keep your eyes out for sightings of native pademelons, Forester Kangaroos, Bennetts Wallabies and Tasmanian Devils. At World Heritage-listed Darlington tour the restored 17th century convict penitentiary. View the dramatic Painted and Fossil Cliffs and from Encampment Cove walk to the ruins of Maria Island’s second (probation-era) convict station at Point Lesueur on the island’s west coast.
