Day 1: Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International where a representative will be waiting to welcome and transfer you to your Nairobi hotel for overnight on bed & breakfast. 

Day 2: Nairobi – Mt Kenya (1,500m to 2081m)

After breakfast you are transferred from Nairobi to Kimunye shopping centre. You will then start the all important 6 kilometre acclimatisation walk that would lead you through a part of the equatorial rain forest. On a good day you could encounter a variety of wild life, ranging from black & white Colobus monkeys to elephant and even buffaloes. You will overnight at the famous Castle lodge (2 081m), dinner will be served. 

Transfer Kimunye: 3 hours

Hiking time: 2 hours

Day 3: Castle Lodge – Kamweti (2,081m to 2,650m)

You will depart from the famous Castle lodge after breakfast for Kamweti. The hike would take you to the upper borders of the equatorial rain forest and beginning of the bamboo zone. The views are just amazing and the experience is unbelievable. You will overnight at Kamweti guest house (2 650m), lunch & diner will be served.

Hiking time: 3 hours

Day 4: Kamweti – Sagana Campsite (2,650m to 3,150m)

Be prepared after breakfast for a 15 kilometres trek through the beautiful and unspoilt bamboo zone, this is where the real trekking starts. Lunch would be served on the hike and dinner at camp; you will overnight at Sagana campsite. 

Hiking time: 7 hours

Day 5: Sagana Campsite – Thegu Camp (3,150m to 3,850m)

On this day you will start with a steep climb from Sagana campsite to the fragile moorland. The experience is just wonderful with amazing views, you will see mountain plant that never grow below 3 500m. Lunch is served en-route and dinner at camp. You will overnight at Thegu camp (3 850m).

Hiking time: 6 hours

Day 6: Thegu camp to Mackinder’s camp (3,850m to 4,300m)

After breakfast you will start hiking from Thegu camp to Mackinder’s camp. This section of the route offers stunning views of Mt. Kenya’s peaks. This would be a 13 kilometre trek through the wonderful and fragile moorland. A slow pace is highly recommended as you ascend into thin air. You will receive a lunch pack and dinner is served at camp. You will overnight at Mackinder’s camp (4 300m).

Hiking time: 6 hours

Day 7: Mackinder’s camp to Point Lenana to Camp Majors (4,300m to 4,985m to 4,000m)

After a pre-dawn breakfast, you will start for the summit around 3am. The hike to point Lenana (4 985m) takes about 3 hours, from here you will view the African sunrise only rivaled by Stella Point on Kilimanjaro. On a clear day you will see Kilimanjaro, about 316 kilometers to the south. Care should be taken on the descent to Austrian Hut, you will then be served additional breakfast before descending even further to camp Major’s. Lunch will be served en-route and dinner at camp. You will overnight at camp Major’s (4 000m).

Hiking time: 8 hours

Day 8: Camp Major to Marania Camp to Nairobi (4,000m to 1,500m)

After breakfast you will start descending towards Marania camp for transfer to Nairobi, the walk takes about 3 hours. Lunch will be served at Nanyuki before continuing to Nairobi where the tour ends. Overnight at your Nairobi hotel.

Hiking time: 3 hours:

Transfer Nairobi: 4 hours

Day 9 - Nairobi to Onward / Home destination

After breakfast you have the day for your shopping errands and some site seeing of the City of Nairobi. Later be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
